Hadekel [The Palm] – Tree of Life
This statue is installed in the Youth Park in the center of Carmiel, situated on the slopes of the Wadi and descending from the Byzantine knoll above the city towards the natural water line.
The statue comprises three components.
a. A horizontal stone block bearing the typically Byzantine palm-tree motif which is one of the characteristic decorative motifs in Middle Eastern art.
The palm tree flourishes wherever there are water sources and therefore symbolizes life.
b. A stone bench, reminiscing the fact that water sources also served as gathering and meeting venues.
c. A stone egg at the foot of the sculpture symbolizing the fruit born by the Tree of Life.
