Pillar Sculptures Series
During the 1990s a relationship was formed between the artist and the Israeli Electricity Company.
The IEC designated a work area for artists within the compound of the Reading G' power station. The relationship deepened over the next ten years and the artist began introducing industrial materials surrounding her into her work, including pillars, cables and clamps. She became fascinated with the idea of using wooden industrial pillars to position and support sculptural elements in space, ostensibly freeing them from gravitational powers. Shlomit Averbach has dealt with issues of 'equilibrium' for several years, holding numerous exhibitions and creating a series of pillar sculptures which are currently installed in various sites around the country.
